Sorry I missed last week. I went on a bit of a crazy 7 hour each way road trip to Michigan last weekend to see friends and a ballet. I didn’t have a lot of spare time to do anything but drive on Sunday.
That being said, it was inspiring. Both seeing the show, but also just the driving. There’s no more pure time to think about writing than when on road trips. The original concept for this book came from the long road trips to Ontario and back every weekend when I was dating my wife.
So once I get done with this post, I need to dive in and get some of that stuff down on the page.
I listened to Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman while I was driving. I think I liked it more than American Gods. I’m trying to decide if I should get an extra book on Audible this month since I finished this month’s book and still have another 2 weeks or more before my next one comes.
I am also reading How to Break My Neck, which is a collection of poetry by Jessica L. Walsh. That’s definitely not car reading though. I’ve realized that over the last year, I’ve collected the published writing of a bunch of people I know, but I’m having a hell of a time finding the time to read it all. I’m making some progress though.
In other writing news, the D&D adventure writing contest that I’ll be judging is wrapping up the submission period, so I’m going to have a good amount of that to go through any time now as well. I really seem to be filling my calendar lately. I suppose that means I should get to the writing today. I’ve been up two hours already and I’ve got some work to do.
